SUMMER GATHERINGS 2009

 

Annual PICK-A-DILLY HERB FAIRE
Saturday, June 13th 10 AM - 5 PM
 

• FREE Admission! An annual Herb Extravaganza!
• Vendors, artisans, area growers, demonstrations, FOOD and more!
• Spend the whole day! Faire hours: 10AM to 5PM

 

2009 Herb of the Year: “Bay Laurel”

The Dillweed Bed & Breakfast in Dilltown is excited to announce its’ 10th annual Pick-A-Dilly Herb Faire, scheduled for Saturday, June 13th from 10am to 5pm.

 

Admission is free and open to the public. Dillweed will provide food and refreshments for sale throughout the day.

 

The festival is co-sponsored by The Indiana County Herb Study Group.

 

In addition to featured growers selling a huge variety of flowering plants, herbs and perennials, this year’s festival welcomes several new vendors including a soap maker, chain saw artist, woodcraft jewelry artist, handcrafted copper designer and other unique garden vendors.

 

Visitors may gain valuable gardening information, growing tips and learn how to care for and cultivate their own herbal gardens. Learn the history and medicinal uses of this year’s herb of the year - sweet bay laurel.

 

Free demonstrations and seminars presented by members of The Herb Study Group are as follows:

Edible Flowers by Debbie Stiffler: Entertain with flowers from your garden at your next picnic or dinner party using common everyday flowers in salads, baked good items and summer drinks!

Stevia by Cindy Rogers: Learn all about this “natural sweetener” that can be used in drinks and foods as a healthy alternative to sugar.

Magic Fairy Garden by Georgette Syster: Themed herb gardens have always been popular from generation to generation. Discover the possibilities of a “magic fairy garden” as well as other ideas in creating your own whimsical garden at home!

Seminar times will be posted at the start of the Herb Faire on June 13th. Come early and enjoy them all!

Garden Concert Series

Herbs of the Bible Workshop
Saturday, August 1st
 

Join the Dillweed Bed & Breakfast and Georgette Syster
of Georgette’s Herbs as we present a day of exploring Herbs of the Bible with a “Gloves On” Gardening Workshop. Location: The Dillweed Herb Garden in Dilltown. Time: 9:30am to ? Cost: $45 (includes lunch).

Spend a delightful and informative day studying various herbs of the Bible from both the Old and New Testament. Make your own herbal garden markers. Gain valuable instruction in creating a “themed Biblical garden” of your very own! Participants will enjoy a delicious lunch and take home various plants to start their own gardens! Please bring your own gardening tools and dress appropriately for this outdoor venue.

Class size limited. Advance registration is necessary.

“A Teddy Bear Workshop"
Hosted by your friends at Dillweed B&B!

Workshop location: Dillweed Bed & Breakfast in Dilltown

Cost: $45 – includes “a picnic-style BEAR of a lunch!”
Class size limited to 12 persons.
Participants are asked to bring their own scissors.
Sign-up and payment are due by September 1st.

Join us for this whimsical workshop with fellow teddy bear collectors. Enjoy making your very own quilted 16” teddy bear with movable arms, legs and head using a “jointed technique” as instructed by Betty Ling of Dilltown.

Bring your own teddy or favorite stuffed friend to the workshop. Share your stories and prepare for lots of fun!
